19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-term trainer Cervara.

Presently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden championship after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

The win also signifies he has achieved twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to secure a title is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six finals, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led some to wonder if his ability to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a decider.

He saved 4 early opportunities in a close third set before the champion broke to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
